The Arizona Families F.I.R.S.T. (Families In Recovery Succeeding Together) network was developed to provide timely assessment and referral to substance abuse treatment and services to individuals and families whose substance abuse affects their parenting ability or their ability to locate competitive employment.

The goal of the program is the elimination of substance abuse among parents and to re-introduce stability into the family dynamics of persons receiving services. Services available through this program include: substance abuse residential treatment; intensive outpatient counseling; individual and group counseling/therapy; substance abuse education; case management; and supportive services (transportation, day care, etc.). A person may be referred to this program by a Child Protective Services worker or a DES/JOBS case manager. Assessments are conducted at a site convenient for the referent. Treatment plans are developed in conjunction with a person’s CPS case plan or JOBS employability plan.

Horizon Human Services is the provider agency for Pinal and Gila counties and has been involved with Arizona Families F.I.R.S.T. since its inception in 2001.
