Respite literally means a period of rest or relief. Respite care provides a caregiver temporary relief from the responsibilities of
caring for individuals with chronic physical or mental disabilities. Respite care is often referred to as a gift of time. Horizon
staff provide periodic relief for the family or primary caregiver as detailed in the Participant?s Treatment Plan. Respite services
are provided in a variety of settings. For example, respite services may be provided in the participant?s home or in an out-of-home setting.
